**PRESS RELEASE** **V4 Development launches beacon-based mobile applications for the Science Museum of Virginia**** *Richmond, VA, May 20, 2016* - Richmond-based company V4 Development has launched a groundbreaking Bluetooth beacon-based mobile application that helps visitors navigate the Science Museum of Virginia. The Science Museum of Virginia approached V4 Development in 2015 to build a beacon-based museum application that would enhance the Speed exhibit, opening Saturday. May 21, and also give museum visitors a new experience. Beacons are small devices that communicate with nearby mobile devices using Bluetooth low energy (BLE). The beacons are strategically placed throughout the museum to give users wayfinding, messaging, audio and video push notifications when the user is within a specific distance. The Museum's free app, "The Muse," also integrates with the Speed exhibition in two interactive games: the Light Race and the Communications Race. The user has the ability to interact with these physical exhibits by using their personal phone. V4 Development developed the applications using native iOS and Android languages and incorporating Google App Engine, Compute Engine, and other cloud based technologies offered by Google to provide an auto scaling and reliable API for the mobile app to utilize.
