V4 Development attended the To Be Designed conference put on by [Richmond UX](https://richmondux.com). To Be Designed was a virtual conference created by Rosenfield Media to discuss and explore the “near-future” of design. Richmond UX, a non-profit organization, hosted the local viewing of the conference on April 25, 2017, at [Gather RVA](http://www.gatherrva.com/en). V4 enjoyed networking with fellow Richmond businesses before watching the online sessions as a group. Richmond UX has hosted a handful of Rosenfield Media virtual conferences. The dedicated volunteer group has a wide background of specialties that include interface design, human-computer interaction, information architecture, interaction design, content strategy, web, and application development, usability, and product management. With over 390 members, the organization works to provide opportunities involving user experience to professionals in Central Virginia. To Be Designed showcased six speakers, each of whom gave a presentation of about 40 minutes highlighting various “near-future” topics. The sessions discussed included: “Ethics for the AI Age”, “Crafting Holistic Product Experiences: Using Light, Sound, and Motion in Your Design Palette”, “Designing Conversations”, “Trends from the Design in Tech Report 2017”, “The UX of Predictive Behavior for the Internet of Things”, “Wearable tech: it’s not what you wear it’s how you wear it”, and “Designing Agentive Technology: AI That Works for People”.
